Very cool web-site to incorporate into the Blog. Found this when looking at other neighborhood groups in Philadelphia.

Someone asked about an exterminator for mice? I have the greatest one living with me! He’s very short-haired, playful and enthusiastic about that type of work. His name is Ebbie (short for Ebony) and might be available for rent/borrow to the right home. You may call me at 233-1003 if interested.
cute, Dot…
Does anyone know a good roofer to get an estimate for Irene damage?
No, but I do know of a really great electrician. He returns calls promptly, shows up when he says he will, does good work at a reasonable price. Nice friendly 1 man operation.
Know anyone who wants to be our neighbor? In an effort infuse the ‘hood with coolness, pass this along to any awesome, housing-seeking people you know!

To anyone who doesn’t get the paper or who missed the article on the 26th, here’s a link to the newest addition to Dauphin County recycling — Styrofoam. It’s a free service to Dauphin County residents. You just have to take it to the South 19th location by the incinerator. Days and times of operation are listed in the article. Any #6.
This is in addition to the electronics recycling and the regular bins for glass, paper, cans, plastic, office paper/junk mail, and cardboard that they already accept.

Thanks Susan!
Is there any community yard sales in planning for the fall?
Also, anyone selling a queen size mattress/boxspring?
Thanks!

Tara @ Engleton encouraged me to re-post my endorsement for the Self Defense Class offered by Steve Blackman at Absolute Wellness:
…I signed up for the last round of classes and we’re about half way through right now. It has exceeded my expectations 1000x over.
By like the third class I was like “eh, why bother going anymore…I’ve already learned how to choke a man out in 2 seconds, what else could I learn?” Last night, I learned how to scissor an attacker and put them in a guillotine hold…don’t get me started on knifework!
Ridiculous. I’m loving it so much I almost want to sign up for another round of classes, and just may.
If anyone in Engleton is considering this class or is on the fence about it I cannot stress enough how much you learn / how unbelievably kick ass it is.
Harris Street is well protected now by this ninja-in-training.
Happy St. Pattys day! What a beautiful day and Friday will be even nicer!
I will def. help paint lines to help define parking spaces. I’ll even buy the 1st few gallons of line painting paint!!
All we need is permission and some direction.
Engleton Community Group’s Self Defense Class at the Absolute Wellness Center $100 for 8-classes.

New to the midtown area, parking is crazy, how do we get lines painted so that others do not take up two parking spaces at one time?
Thats a great idea but money is so tight i dont see it going anywhere even if you were to suggest it to Hbg. Gov. Worth a shot though…. Start w/ the block on 3rd btwn Harris & Hamilton !!
I would be happy to paint lines – but what we need is a law that would enable police to ticket cars over the lines.
Seriously, if the city will enact a law to bring in revenue, I will volunteer to paint. I’ve discussed this with neighbors who agree, and we think lines on the curb would be effective.
Anyone else in???
Historic Harrisburg Association Most Endangered list.
What buildings in Engleton should be on this list? Which buildings outside Engleton, around the City?
Reply to this message with your suggestions!
The building on the corner of 3rd & Hamilton (east) w/ the copper turret would make a great business on the 1st floor w/ luxury apts on the 2nd & 3rd floor. Currently for sale. Needs an ambitious developer. The copper turret & trim would look amazing if cleaned up.
I was thinking that building, too. That place could be so striking on that corner.
Would anybody be interested in going to or helping set up a Halloween block party? I am just trying to see if that is of interest. I would hate to plan it all and end up at a party by myself. I am boring and would just bore myself.
